Eyelid Sty Treatment!

How to Treat Sty on Eyelid

Sty is an infection of the eyes caused by bacteria Staphylococcus. It is generally presenteyelid sty picture in the nose and is transferred to the eyes by touching it after rubbing the nose. It appears in the form of a swelling in and around the eyelid. This can occur at any age.

The affected area becomes red because of swelling and is soft to touch. The eyes become watery and this affects the vision. The images appear blurred. The swelling develops into a boil which is filled with fluid called pus. Once the pus moves out the patient is relieved.

It stays for 3 to 4 days. Generally people do not go to a doctor. The first step is to give cool compress on the eyes four to six times a day. This helps in subsidizing the pain. After few days when the pain subsides then warm compresses are given which helps the sty to burst.

One should observe cleanliness. One can use mild soap and shampoo to clean the affected area. It should be done gently. The sty should not be pressed hard or squeezed because it may lead to serious problem.

A person suffering from stye should avoid eye make up and also avoid wearing contact lenses as these only add on to the complications. Medical treatment is also given by doctors in stye for relaxation. Pain relievers such as acetaminophen may be prescribed and at times antibiotics may also be used. Antibiotics are normally given to patients who suffer from multiple stye. Oral antibiotics are also prescribed by doctors like doxycycline. Antibiotic ointments can also be used which gives relief during stye.

If the styes fail to respond to any of the treatments then surgery is the only option left. It is through surgery that the stye is removed. It is done by a doctor and anesthesia is given to the patient before the operation. The pus is drained out through operation. These are the ways in which styes can be treated.
