Stye Symptoms
The stye is an infection of the eyes. Stye is caused by a
bacterium called staphylococcus. It
is contagious. It can spread
from
one person to another. The affected area becomes red, soft and it
swells up. It becomes painful.
There are certain symptoms which help us to identify Stye. To begin with the area becomes red and swells up. A boil is formed on the upper or the lower eyelid. Eyes appear to be red and watery. The boil is soft to touch. It is irritating and one always wants to touch the affected part and rub the eye.
There is a thin line of crust on the eyelid. One even experiences burning sensation. One always wants to squeeze it to remove them. But one should never do that as it would worsen the situation. At times it even affects the vision.
The boil grows big and it hinders the visibility. One is not able to see properly and the image appears blurred. It can also happen because of water in the eyes as there is mucous discharge from the eyes. It begins with sensitivity to light, too much flowing of tears and feeling of a foreign body inside the eye. Soon the affected area is swollen.
The sty enlarges because it fills with pus. It should not be squeezed because if done so it may lead to more styes. It has a point at the tip and it breaks down after 3 to 4 days with the pus moving out.
Stye eye Infection is easy to treat but if it still continues one must consult doctor. It is also contagious so one must be careful and follow proper hygiene. Warm compress is a very good way of treating stye infection.
Apart from this there are medicines and ointments which can be purchased from medical stores.
